My first instinct was to suggest a frame wall. Although the bedspread is essentially a patterned neutral, I figured a lot of additional color on the walls might be to intense. So, I suggested printing out a series of black and white photos and framing them in assorted frames. IKEA has some great frames that are really inexpensive ($4.99 for 4). Another option would be to find an assortment of frames at your local thrift store, and then spray paint them all a uniform color.
I love the final result. In fact, I'm thinking of a putting up a frame wall above my new workspace. Here are some of my favorite frame walls:

While I love the assorted pieces of artwork in these images (especially the layering of frames in the last photo), I think a more subtle approach with black and white photos will be more fitting for a bedroom. If you are really lazy, and/or don't want to deal with nailing into your walls, I have found some frame decals that you can use to frame your pictures too!
If you want a more organized look when hanging your frames, check out this DIY by Emily from cupcakes and cashmere. I kind of like the haphazard look of all types of frames, but you really can't go wrong with either. All in all, this is a very inexpensive solution that instantly adds personality to a room. Do you have a frame wall? Would you use prints or photographs or a combination of both? I would love to hear from you!
So I was totally already thinking about a frame wall... already bought frames at the thrift store and painted them black (to match my toilet ;-)) but these are something else! Love it!
