Hey there, Sweet Stuff

So back in March I thought it would be a good idea to give up sweets for Lent.  That's right, 40 days of no cookies, candies, brownies, ice cream, you get the idea.  Well, as those Catholics out there know, Easter is this Sunday, thus ending my period of depravity for all things fatty (and therefore delicious).  Surprisingly, I'm not as bat shit crazy as I thought I would be at this stage in the game, just a mere 4  days away from the Big E.  BUT I plan on consuming enough sweets to become borderline diabetic once I wake up Easter morning.  Oh what a glorious day it will be!  These photos (see links under the images for the recipes) look oh so enticing to me, I am practically licking my chops already!

Grilled Cheeses

Nothing warms me up like a grilled cheese and tomato soup in the winter time.  I found these innovative grilled cheese's on Padgett Hoke's adorable blog (via Martha Stewart online).
GRUYERE, PROSCIUTTO, ARUGULA, AND TOMATO
CHEDDAR, DIJON MUSTARD, BACON, AVOCADO, AND TOMATO
CHEDDAR, JALAPENO, AND CILANTRO
GRUYERE, RED ONION, PROSCUITTO, AND RED PEPPER

I can't wait to pull out my panini maker and try these tasty morsels!

Warm Toasted S'mores Bars

Sorry about that digression for Giants baseball.  I can't resist playoffs.  I love 'em all: March Madness, Stanley Cup, NBA playoffs...and don't even get me started on the Olympics.

I recently made these delicious s'mores bars and wanted to share this super easy recipe.  Since it's too cold these days for camping, not that I'm much of a camper to begin with, these are a great substitute to roasting mallows over an open fire. Not to mention, great for watching the game tonight!

Hump Day

I cannot remember the last time I wore shoes with laces that didn't involve working out.  I LOVE these  leather sneakers from Frye...but they are a steep $118.  Instead, I could settle for these Bensimon sneakers...ranging from $19.95-$55. I think these are the perfect grown up pair to replace my ratty Vans I still have from high school.

P.S. check out these hilarious and adorable links from around the world wide web

drink me

Apparently people are experiencing extreme heat EVERYWHERE except the SF Bay.  Boo.  But, it's FRIDAY!  And in honor of the end of the work week, here are some delicious summer drinks that are sure to cool you off, or at least help you unwind.  Who am I kidding, I want to try all of these this weekend...
  1. Watermelon Martini- Recipe here
  2. Mojito-
    1. Add mint leaves, 2oz of lime juice, 1 teaspoon of powdered sugar to the bottom of your glass (it's ok to do this in a separate bowl first, and then transfer contents to a glass)
    2. Gently mash it up
    3. Add ice
    4. Add half part white rum, half part club soda
    5. Garnish with mint leaf
  3. Champagne- always good with a splash of fruit juice
  4. Sangria- Super easy recipe here
  5. Vodka soda with a splash of fresh squeezed fruit
Happy Friday!
